Hurricane Sandy, or post-tropical storm Sandy, or what ever they were calling it, created a nasty mess for most of us in the tri-state area. Before my street in Long Island City became a river (I posted an unedited video of that surreal scene here), the East River started to rise well above the piers. Power was only starting to go out and lower Manhattan still had the lights on. In this shot you can see the water flooding Gantry Park and the street. The railings from the piers were almost completely submerged. I've never seen anything like this before, it was seriously like out of a movie, but not.
